Job Summary:

Provides risk management services to DTE Energy’s trading functions.

Accountabilities:

  • Manage static data within the risk management system including generation of forward energy price curves, interest rates, historical price data, FX rates, and option implied volatiles.

  • Prepares and issues P&L and other daily risk reports.

  • Makes VBA and SQL coding changes to spreadsheets and database queries.

  • Maintain metric data over key processes.

  • Utilize continuous improvement methodologies and techniques to improve quality, delivery and efficiency of assigned work task and processes.

  • Manage special projects, research issues, develop recommendation and implement solutions.

  • Provides risk reviews of contracts and capital approval requests.

  • Maintains appropriate risk management procedures, systems, models and processes.

  • Works collaboratively in the creation and execution of valuation and analytical models.

  • Monitors compliance with company Policies and Procedures

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree with concentration in a business discipline, math, engineering, science or quantitative discipline.

  • Required: 3-plus years of relevant experience, including 1-plus year(s) developing and maintaining risk management policies, procedures, systems, models, and processes in a trading environment or commodity merchant function

  • Required: 2-plus years performing in an energy markets organization involved with trading, marketing, generation development, acquisition, and optimization.

  • Preferred: Master’s degree in related discipline

  • Preferred: Strong Preference for VBA/SQL coding experience.

  • Preferred: Experience with the Openlink Endur trading and risk management system is helpful.

  • Expert knowledge of software systems in particular Microsoft Excel and databases.

  • Communicates effectively (verbally & in writing) with individuals at all levels, inside and outside the Corporation especially with traders, back office, accounting, tax and outside counterparties.

  • Analytical & problem-solving skills consistent with the ability to identify key issues from a broad range of alternatives, and recommend optimal solutions for various situations.

  • Knowledge of risk management.

  • Knowledge of the following methods and tools: Value-at-Risk, Monte Carlo simulations, and option pricing models.

  • Must be reliable and willing to accept responsibility for assigned tasks.

  • Overtime may be required at times.

  • Knowledge of general commercial transactions, business and / or accounting.

  • Dedication to complete daily reporting requirements is imperative.
